VR/Wesson today is a much different company than what many people remember us as from the 1980’s/1990’s.

VR today still offers the carbide grades that everyone remembers and worked so well. VR also offers new grades like VR725 with improved technologies such as “cobalt enriching”. VR also still maintains the aerospace grades like VR822 (TIN) and VR527 (TIALN), which are coated here at VR/Wesson.

PCD and CBN have been outstanding areas of growth for the company. Our pricing along with a retip and regrind programs have been a valuable cost saving for automotive/aerospace (engines to landing gears) and today, VR/Wesson is the vendor of choice in many engine and transmission applications in automotive. We have partnered well with integration that services both USA and Canada.

We offer a green silicon carbide whisker reinforced ceramic today. VR is one of 5 companies that offer this type of product and a cost savings regrind program. An example is a RCGN 4V T1 to RCGN 3V T1 in Whisker reinforced or Alumina/Tic black hot pressed ceramics this can save as much as 75% of the cost of new inserts off list prices.

VR offers Tantung G, tool holders and boring bars, Gleason gear cutting stick tools, Milling inserts and spare parts for cutters that go back to the early 1960’s. VR Notch and cut-off inserts and just about any special. Specials are a big part of our business today. VR has the best grinding technologies offered today with fully robotic Agathon, Pentas. This enables us to grind an insert complete in one clamping.
